Our Epilepsy Team

MEG DIRECTOR

The MEG is a machine similar to the EEG but instead of detecting electrical fields, it captures magnetic fields of the brain. The MEG is an especially exciting new tool available to epilepsy specialists in that it can capture activity originating in deep structures of the brain directly because it is not affected by obstacles (skin or bone).  There are a small number of MEG machines in the US and sometimes patients are referred from a distance to come have this test performed prior to undergoing epilepsy surgery.  Dr. John Ebersole, a renowned expert in the field, is now the Medical Director of the MEG Center at Overlook Hospital in Summit, NJ which is very positive for persons with epilepsy who live in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, or Connecticut.
